I think the line I’ve said 1000 and 1 times on this blog has been “Parenting is the hardest thing I’ve ever done.” And it’s true. I’ve learned yet something new and rather disturbing to me. 2 of my good friends have recently been effected by adoption. They both read this blog, however their situation is MUCH different then mine. So I am not going to elaborate on that. But it did get me to thinking and I did have a talk with my mom. Back when I was a child we went through things to have my step father adopt me. But I find out now it never went through. My bio father was incarcerated at the time and for whatever the reasons the papers were never signed (with a notary) and given back to my mom and step father on time for court ANY of the times. I don’t know if this meant my bio dad was contesting it or what. My bio dad is pond scum. When I was 18 I looked him up. I carried a relationship on with him for about 1 year. He never called me. I called him. He wanted everything, but put no effort. He was excited to say I was his daughter, but in the same breath treated his new wife’s children (who were NOT his at all) better then me. I didn’t want to deal with it so I stopped calling him. Around this time I got pregnant with my daughter. He got wind of the news and started calling ALL the time. It was stalkerish and weird. I finally answered one day and asked him not to call. I wrote him a letter that basically told him my feelings and that he was NO father I wanted and the only father I knew was my step father, who was MY father and that for all sakes and purposes my child would only know THIS man as her grandpa. And it’s always been that way. Well see my bio father is a sneaky self centered asshole. He would do the very thing I am about to say. In the state of Wisconsin, we have “Grandparents Rights“. This statute states “If one or both parents of a minor are deceased and the minor is in the custody of the surviving parent or any other person, a grandparent or stepparent of the minor may petition for visitation privileges with respect to the minor, whether or not the person with custody is married. The grandparent or stepparent may file the petition in a guardianship or temporary guardianship proceeding under this chapter that affects the minor or may file the petition to commence an independent action under this chapter.” This honestly scares the SHIT of of me. I do not want him to ever see my children, let alone have visitation with them, and OH MY custody of them?!?! That would KILL me (if I wasn’t already dead).

There are ALOT of stipulations that go along with this law and it’s not as easy as it may seem, but the fact is, it very well could happen. If something happened to me, I could see my bio dad trying this. I could VERY MUCH see him trying this. Travis would fight him tooth and nail and may even put himself out on the line with the law because he knows how I feel about my bio father (who by the way was incarcerated for abuse and rap). I would never EVER want him NEAR my kids. However, if something happened to both Travis and I and the kids went to the person assigned in the Living Will that we had made, we can’t guarantee a fight wouldn’t be. That brings me to now. My adoption with my stepfather never went through. So here I sit. I’ve contacted a lawyer and I am making sure everything is all legal, but it appears the first thing that I have to do is file to have my bio father’s name removed off my birth certificate. I can do this on my own because I am over the age of 18. I do not know if there are fees or if my bio father will be notified. I do not know if he contests if that matters since I am a legal adult. The lawyer was actually going to look into some things and going to have to call me back. So I am awaiting that call. I can really leave it at this. With no father’s name on the birth certificate. I really chose not to do that though. I want to honor what my parents wanted and I want my step father to know that I do appreciate him being my father all of my life and that it HAS made and impact on me. I want him to know that my kids don’t just call him “grandpa” but that he really IS grandpa!! It’s important to me, to our family. So I will go ahead and add him to my birth certificate and finalize all of that with the adoption. I am just in shock. I am just scared. I don’t know which way to turn. I am amazed that I never thought about this before. I am scared if something happens that this bio father freak would use his rights to defy me and everything I’ve ever believed in and taught my children. This just has to happen. It’s all too much to bear!!

On another note… I’ve been incredibly sick for the last 2 days. I am starting to feel a bit better now. The ringing in my ears has stopped, but my poor headache is still there. I finally ate some soup today. And I’ve been drinking orange juice throughout the day. I feel run down. I’ve slept so much in the last 2 days that I can’t even begin to count the hours. It’s crazy!! My hubby is off today and tomorrow. It’s a good thing because I can fully re-coop and have him here to help. Our wine came today from wine of the month club. Usually that is a good day for us. We will have a nice dinner and we will enjoy a glass of wine, but not tonight. It will probably sit on the cupboard for a week until I am feeling better. I don’t even have the urge. I haven’t even have Xavier this week because I’ve been so sick. Okay well I am off to lay back down. I just thought I’d blog this quickly while the thought was fresh and I was waiting for the meds to kick in again. I’ll be back to update more when I have more to say!!

I decided to pull up my cpanel and check out the top keywords searches that revealed MY blog on Google and other search engines…Â I laughed so hard… ready…

complaints about pure romance (self explainitory)
Movie
because
thought
google
bloggervention
required (hmmm)
Adult content seller (okay!)
george (are you laughing yet)
purchased (rofl)
nyquil (I am so done… I lost it… )

So what do required, adult content seller, george, purchased and nyquil have in common with my blog? I am not sure… here’s what my imagination thinks…

George was required to do some community service. He got caught drinking Nyquil while driving. He was upset, so on his way home he happened to have purchased some KY Jelly. So all he needed now was an adult content seller to get himself a fun little movie and perhaps a toy… He could then have a night of relaxation before he needed to but anymore thought into tomorrow. All this because he was irresponsible!!

There you have it folks!! That should be wonderful for the search engines!! BLAHAHAHAHA!! And with that… I say GOOD NIGHT!! Oh and a goodnight link: Check out travel insurance.

Do you understand that statement? Maybe I speak a forgein language? Perhaps I didn’t make myself clear… YOU ARE N-O-T CUTTING H-E-R HAIR! Did you get it that time? Every fucking time my mother in law comes over here this discussion comes up. She wants to cut my daughter’s hair. I say no. We fight. Everyone leaves. I am the bitch. WTF?!?! Seriously, she’s MY kid!! I will decide what gets done with her hair. The meer fact that I do not braid it or put it up everyday or do something fancy EVERYDAY doesn’t mean that it needs to be CHOPPED off. She sees my daughter 4-5 days a month… today, for example, she comes over… She’s been in the pool all day. Anything that WAS done with her hair is no longer. It’s 6pm. So let’s chop it off. Her defense? “You have short hair.” UGH! I am also a GROWN woman…

Okay let me explain. When I was younger, my mom cut my hair short. Bobs, short hair cuts. To this day it drives me CRAZY and pisses me off that I had “boy” haircuts as a kid. I am NOT doing that to my DAUGHTER! My MIL however doesn’t care… Again I hear “You have short hair.” Someone help!! I am going insane!! So I scream “WHATEVER!” and then she proceeds to ‘explain’ this wonderful idea of a haircut she has. She wants to layer everything, cut it up around her ears, give her bangs, basically shorter then mine… Do the words ‘boy cut’ come to mind? I say calmly “I do not want her having a boy hair cut.” and I get “You have short hair, and it’s a rather butch {boy} cut.” Oh fuck you lady! Your on my LAST nerve! All the while my loving supportive asshole of a husband is agreeing with his mother, and not listening to her wonderful idea of a haircut! She storms out the door to sit in the front yard, with my BIL, his girlfriend, my FIL, my brother and the kids. This leaves hubby and I in the house. I said “Were you listening to her bright idea of a haircut or just agreeing?” He promptly says “I wasn’t listening, I don’t care.” I reply (snippy) with “Of course you don’t care. It’s easier to make me look like the asshole. Would you listen for just one minute?” He replies “I said I don’t care. It’s Mariah’s hair.” I say “So you want her to look like a boy? Because that is what your mom wants to do.” He replies “If that is what Mariah wants then let her. It will grow back.” I reply “Mariah can’t visualize what it will look like. She doesn’t understand. She thinks it’s going to look like Erica’s (BIL’s girlfriend).” He says “It’s just hair!” I reply “You are such an asshole.” and storm off into the bedroom, where I proceed to sit and read a magazine for the next 30 minutes until everyone leaves.

He then wants me to come and look at haircuts on the internet of her. PLEASE! You wouldn’t give me the time of day when *I* wanted to talk about it, you aren’t getting my time now. I know some of you are thinking this is much to little to fight about and there are bigger things in the world, but you know what it’s not entirely about the hair (for those of you that read through that above – thanks for getting it). It’s about my Mother In Law period! She is always causing drama. She’s always getting her way. I love her I do. Don’t take that the wrong way. But I *hate* that she butts into our lives and thinks *she* needs to make the decisions for us. *I* and *I* alone will decide when and IF I cut my daughter’s hair. Mariah wants her hair short. I will let her. I have no problem with that, but it will be a cute GIRL cut.

I will take her to get her hair cut this week at Cost Cutters where I go. I should add, my mother in law is a barber/beautician in a different salon. *MUAH* Or maybe I should get a passport and take off out of the country!! UGH!!

I found this topic rather…. SHOCKING… and AMAZING… all in the same word!! I am curious as to what other people HONESTLY think about this. I am all for finding cures, helping our future, etc… but is this a way? Perhaps so… here’s a press release just issued:

Taking Control: Future Therapies for a Host of Serious Diseases May Be Found in Women’s Menstrual Blood

July 07, 2008: 01:28 PM EST

OLDSMAR, Fla., July 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — With today’s hectic lifestyle, where most women are juggling careers, family, relationships, and a host of activities, the idea of possibly facing a serious illness in the future is not something that readily comes to mind — especially when a woman is in the prime of her life. But what most women don’t know, is that the key to treating a number of possibly life-threatening diseases that she, a parent, a sibling or even her children may face in later years, such as osteoporosis, heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, may be found within her own body — in vital stem cells, which can now be harvested from her own menstrual blood.

Now, thanks to the revolutionary research and technology of C’elle, a service dedicated to providing women with a safe and easy method of collecting and preserving stem cells found in her menstrual fluid each month, even the busiest woman can take control of her future, right in the privacy of her own home. With C’elle’s non-invasive collection process, menstrual cells are processed and cryo-preserved (stored at a very low temperature) for potential cellular therapies that may be used in the future. These self-renewing cells one day may even be used for sports medicine or cosmeceutical treatments, such as anti-aging therapies.

“C’elle enables and empowers a woman to take control of her future health, and possibly of those genetically closest to her, in a fast, painless and stress free way,” said Michelle Kay, Marketing and Sales Manager for C’elle. “We live in exciting times, as science and technology are discovering how extremely valuable menstrual blood stem cells really are, and the enormous treatment potential they represent for future therapies. C’elle’s ongoing research is supporting these promising findings.”

For more information about C’elle, please call 1-877-892-3553 or visit www.celle.com.

What are your thoughts readers? I think this is certainly has a lot of potential and could really be a good thing for future reasearch!! You can read some Celle Client Testimonial here and see what others are saying! Then make a decision for you!!

Don’t try this at home! It’s my PSA of the day! LOL Seriously… I’ve been so sick and so snotted up that I can not sleep so last night I took a dose of Nyquil, a Mucinex and headed to bed. I slept incrediable for 4 hours. After that I was awake and sniffling and sneezing and I could breath… so I got up and took another dose of Nyquil (the bottle says every SIX hours – not to exceed 4 doses in 24 hours). I was able to go back to sleep and sleep again another 4 hours… however, this time I woke up… feeling, uh… hungover… WHAT?!?!?! I know, right? What a cheap date I was… 2 shots of Nyquil! However, I am feeling much better and I can breath through my nose so I guess the sleep is what I needed to give my body the extra “umph” to fight this cold off! I don’t know, but I don’t intend to give myself a Nyquil hangover ever again… LOL

We have had a TON of bad weather here. *sigh* and that includes Wisconsin Dells. We are leaving for there in 4 days and unfortunatly some of our vacation already has to be replanned. They were hit with the same storms we were. Lake Delton has flooded and the dam has let loose. It’s made a mess of things down there and there is no way to “quick fix” anything like this. I feel so incrediably sorry for the people down there that lost homes. It’s devestating to see the footage. We don’t live close enough to water here (we are bout 3 miles from the Bay) to have to worry. The Bay is very low and it would need to fill trememdously to even consider flooding, which I doubt would ever happen. But it’s sad.

On more serious note… I ws talking with my dad last night. He’s getting to the age of retirement and we are looking at options and things for him and my mother when that time comes. One of the things we talked about was a medicare supplement. I really think this is necessary. With the rise in health cost, it will be one less thing they would hve to worry about. I know my aunt already uses a service like this and it’s working great for her, so I definetly want my parents to be set up too.

Okay bloggers… we are set for some storms here so I am going to get my butt motivated and get a few things done and off Lean Green in case it starts storming. Peace!

True Story…

Today, I walk across the street to catch my mail carrier. I love that man! However, with our impending vacation, he always likes us to let him know, even if we don’t have a vacation hold. He’s an aware guy and just likes to be aware. We know him, and he’s very nice, so I wanted to let him know. Also to let him know that my FIL will be here all week so he doesn’t freak and report some stranger living in my house. So I approach him and we are chatting… Suddenly the neighbor from across the street approaches us, buts into the conversation, WITHOUT an “excuse me” and says “Can you please turn your porch light off at night because it shines into my bedroom window?” Your kidding me right!! You just interupted MY conversation and want me to do you a favor?!? The first thought that came to my mind was the very thought that cam out of my mouth. My husband seen it coming and quickly threw his head in hand and walked away. He knew! I said “I’m sorry that light is on to deter people like YOUR brother from stealing things from peoples yards.” And I began to walk away… She actually had the nerve to say… “So that means your not going to turn it off?” Are you freaking kidding me? I was so dumbfounded I didn’t know what to say… so I kept walking.

As a matter of fact, she’s know called WAR. I’ve decided that not only will I not shut the light off, but I headed DIRECTLY to Wal-mart, not stopping at go… to buy 100 watt daylight energy efficiency bulbs. Those bright white suckers. I came home and popped them in right away JUST so I wouldn’t forget.

You see 2 years ago her brother broke into out garage, and was caught with the stuff, convicted, and sentenced to time… So I have it out for these people, who by the way still own restitution! MUAH… I will get it one way or another…

Next time you come walking up interupting my conversation… at least have some class. I mean seriously, she was shy of the bluetooth headset, chewing bubble gum like a horse, twirling her hair and saying “like”. Actually THAT might have humored me!! Some people!!

Here’s a random post of nothing and lots of thoughts of nothing while my pea brain wanders away… First, a Pure Pain in the Ass, I mean, Pure Romance update… I got the gift card!! In the mail today was a PURDY pink envelope addressed to me from Beth! She kept her word and enclosed a nice “I’m Sorry” letter and a gift card. The gift card value was enough to replace the item PLUS get a little something extra… so needless to say, I am hopeless going to “forget” about the pain in the ass consultant, order my purchase off the website, and continue too in the future… Just one problem Houston… the website is DOWN!! UGH!! I guess MAYBE I can forgive them since I should REALLY be shopping on that site until my kids are in bed.

Next up eBay… Did you know they FINALLY changed the feedback system. I was so incrediably confused that they FINALLY did it, I had to go re-read the information on it. So many times I have left FALSE feedback on ebay because of the threat of Feedback Extortion. Let me explain. I buy something from Seller. Seller sends me the product, clearly NOT what I had bought. I always contact them and give them a chance to fix it. However, some of them will do nothing, not reply, or they will say, or well… If you post the negative feedback THIS seller deserves they will post negative for you. Which is bullshit, because I have paid within 24 hours AND given them a chance to fix THEIR mistake. So I lie and leave some bunk feedback like “Quick Shipping” – Provided the shipping wasn’t the problem, leaving NO comment on the actual product. So I log into ebay to leave feedback today for something my dad purchased and I see a comment “YOU CAN NO LONGER RECEIVE A NEGATIVE FROM YOUR SELLER!” Hmmm… I’ll bite… So I click the link and read… While I am happy that a Seller can no longer leave me feedback based on retaliation, I am also upset that if I sell something and have a shitty buyer, I can’t devulge that to other sellers. I may end up with a crappy buyer and there is nothing I will be able to see to tell me that… So I am not sure I like this new system. It seems like there needs to be some sort of rating system for non-payers and or buyers that are “risky”. Thoughts?

Lastly, tonight I went and got my foot tattoo touched up. I want this small lettering on my arm that says “Loving Memory” and has a tear drop. It is about the size of a 1/2 dollar (yes the old 50 cent pieces). Mind you I JUST went in and got my foot done. I paid $120 for my foot. So I didn’t think that this LITTLE piece on my arm would be maybe $60-$70, right? They wanted $110!! Are you freaking kidding me?? I will be getting it done because it is a very precious piece to me and my heart, BUT they won’t be doing it. I KNOW I can go to another place and get it done for around $60ish… I am just pissed because I like the place. It’s clean and I would MUCH rather go there and have all my work done, kwim? But what on earth!?!?! Why would they think I am going to pay as much for 2 little words as I did for that DETAILED piece on my foot. Of course hubby is getting work done there so he didn’t want me to say anything becase he doesn’t want them to treat him bad, and I am SO not one to shut my mouth, so I walked out, rather STORMED out… and I guess will just go someplace else! UGH! Tattoo artists have BIG HEADS!! *eye roll*

Well the weekend is over… My weekend ran into Monday, ah the joys of having a “swing shift” lifestyle. Hubby returns to work tomorrow. We had a cook-out yesterday with a bunch of friends and all the in laws over. I drank a CRAP load of Margaritas and looked pretty, as usual. It was much too much and I am ready for the back to normal, whatever that is, lifestyle of the week. Of course, the Divine Miss M has exactly 2 full days and 2 hours of school left and then we are going to be in a lovely world of chaos here!! Should be lovely as all summers here!! Tons of fighting, lots of “I’m bored”s, followed by a ton of “Sit the hell down”s… Ah I love it!!

I tuned into Denise Richards, It’s Complicated tonight. I love her!! I just realized that tonight. She’s very down to earth, she’s trying so hard to get past the negative press and guess what… She said “If people are going to judge me they might as well know the truth and judge me on that.” AMEN!! I say you know what… you don’t have to like me, but chose to not like me for the TRUTH not what you hear.

My RANT for the day… as much as I love Paint Shop Pro… I really HATE them tonight, not enough to change to PhotoShop, but enough!! I had and was using Paint Shop Pro XI. It was preinstalled on my brand new Dell Laptop when I purchased it. So I thought that was a good deal, right? Nope… come to find out, there is an issue with it between Vista and Paint Shop Pro XI and there IS a patch available, but Corel won’t give it to me. Why? Because they don’t support my “bundle”. But I can upgrade for just $49.99… how nice, huh? BLOW ME!! I don’t want an upgrade… I want the patch, but guess what? Since I am a digital scrapbooker, photographer, and designer and rely on it for my business, they win… I am NOT happy!!
